2025.03.05, 08 TJEO Engages in Lively Exchange with Seiryo Middle School Students
Students from Seiryo Middle School in Sendai visited NYCU as part of their exchange program with a school in Taiwan.
During the discussion session with 14 fifth- and sixth year students (equivalent to first- and second-year high school students), Professor SAMUKAWA Seiji, Director of TJEO, gave a presentation focusing on innovation, introducing Taiwan’s semiconductor industry, the ecosystem of the Hsinchu Science Park, and NYCU’s strength. TJEO Student Assistant MORISHITA also shared his personal experience of studying and conducting research in Taiwan for the past seven years.
The students asked insightful questions about Taiwan’s influence on Japan through the semiconductor industry, and about the lifestyle and academic environment in Taiwan. The exchange offered a valuable opportunity for them to deepen their understanding of Taiwan.
The students also toured NYCU’s Nano Facility Center, where research is actively conducted by both students and researchers.
With the support of a Japanese researcher working at the center, the students in cleanroom suits learned about the semiconductor manufacturing process and related equipment while handling actual wafers used in research on their hands. Many expressed surprises at the complexity behind the electronic devices they use every day showed a high level of interest by asking questions about the differences between academic research and corporate work.

2025年3月5日、8日 青陵中等教育学校との交流を行いました
仙台市立青陵中等教育学校が、台湾の高校との交流のため現地を訪問することに合わせ、陽明交通大との交流を行いました。
同校の5、6年生（高校1、2年と同学年）14名との懇談では、台日交流推進室の寒川主任より、イノベーションをキーワードに、台湾の半導体産業や新竹サイエンスパークの特徴、陽明交通大学の強みに関するプレゼンを行いました。また、同室の森下アシスタントからは、陽明交通大での研究活動を含む台湾での7年間の留学経験に関する講話を行いました。
学生たちからは、半導体産業で台湾が日本にもたらす影響や、台湾での生活・学習環境に関する質問などがあがり、台湾への理解が深まる機会となった様子が窺えました。
同校の皆さんは、陽明交通大学の学生や研究者が研究活動で使用しているナノファシリティセンターの見学も行いました。
同センターで研究活動に従事されている日本人研究者のご協力のもと、学生たちはクリーンスーツに身を包み、研究で使用されているウエハーを実際に手に取りながら、半導体の製造工程や製造装置に関して学習しました。学生たちからは、日ごろ使用している電子機器を支える半導体が複雑な工程をへてできあがることへの驚きの声があったほか、研究活動と企業活動の違いに関する質問があがるなど、高い関心を寄せていました。
